At Liquis Digital, we’re all about finding simple, effective ways to drive real results. And today, we’re sharing one of our favorite conversion tricks that we use on client websites all the time—especially when we’re dealing with longer lead capture forms.
Because let’s be honest…
Nobody wants to fill out a long form.
At least, not unless you make it feel easy.
Here’s how we do it—and how you can steal this strategy for your own website
Break Long Forms Into Bite-Sized Steps
Instead of showing one long form with a million fields, split it up into small sections or pages. Each section should only ask for one or two pieces of information at a time.
This does a few important things:
-
It keeps users from feeling overwhelmed.
-
It creates a smooth, mobile-friendly experience.
-
It gives you more control over the user journey.
And most importantly:
It increases the chances they’ll actually complete the form.
Start With Easy, Low-Stakes Questions
Here’s where most businesses go wrong:
They lead with, “What’s your phone number?” or “Enter your email.”
But that’s asking for too much, too soon. It’s like proposing on the first date.
Instead, start with something that’s:
-
Easy to answer
-
Genuinely interesting to them
-
Low commitment
For example:
“What type of service are you looking for?”
“How soon are you hoping to get started?”
Once someone starts filling out the form and sees progress, they feel invested. That psychological momentum can carry them all the way through to the finish line.
Show a Progress Bar (Seriously, It Works)
Ever notice how much more motivated you are to finish something when you know how far you’ve come?
That’s exactly why you need to add a progress bar.
Even something as simple as “Step 1 of 4” gives users a sense of direction and accomplishment as they go. It’s a small tweak, but it can make a huge difference in your form completion rate.
