We don’t think this cool little button got the hype it deserved. Maybe it’s because LinkedIn didn’t do a fantastic job of telling us how it works. I had heard about it, but I didn’t think I needed anything beyond the generic share button I already had until I happened to stumble upon the ShareIn button on Social Media Examiner. In an instant I was sharing relevant content as my status update, with PR and social media groups of mine and a LinkedIn connection I knew would specifically be interested in the info… all in little popup window. How cool is that?
Okay so now your wondering why I would want to do that and more importantly, why it’s important for a blog to allow its readers to do that.
Well, I want to do that because it helps people view me as a solid resource and get to know me as I participate in LinkedIn groups. LinkedIn is a powerhouse for developing business contacts, but there’s not a really great social interaction component outside the groups so posting and commenting are the best ways to stay top of mind and build actual relationships. Just remember to be relevant and resourceful, not spammy and salesy.
Now, the reason you want this on your blog is because now others can share your content more mindfully. Anything that makes it easy for the reader to share your content is golden and if your blog is business or industry related, the ability to share on LinkedIn is quite necessary. Simple as that!
I see you are now noticing that we don’t have one of these nifty InShare buttons on our blog. We have an awesome excuse though, this quaint little blog is in the process of a makeover and we specifically can’t wait to add this cool new feature for our readers.
